In 1630, a plague epidemic decimated Toulouse over four years, killing tens of thousands of people.
Everyone died except for four thieves who were caught stealing from corpses. They said that they smeared their bodies with a vinegar of their own composition to protect themselves and drank it daily

They were promised their lives in exchange for their takings but .... the archives of the Parliament of Toulouse report that they were tried and condemned to be burned alive in the public square.

Thanks to them, hundreds of people have since been saved from major contagions and epidemics

This "vinegar of the 4 thieves" was used again a few years later, in 1720, when another plague epidemic hit the city of Marseille

The vinegar of the four thieves was recorded in the codex in 1748.

Properties :

In gargle, it is used to relieve sore throats and in inhalation, to clear the airway.

In friction on the body or in compress, it allows to disinfect and attenuate the pains. It reduces itching and dryness of the skin and calms insect bites.

The Vinegar of the 4 Thieves is used to soften the water of the bath, to cleanse and make shine the hair.

It is also an excellent disinfectant and sanitizer for the house and equipment.

Use:
External :
- In lotion or in compress, or food, in dilution with water.

- Against the risks of contagion: pure or diluted by half with water, rubbed all over the body.

- Disinfection of wounds, insect bites, various irritations: pure or diluted by half with water, in light application or in compress.

- Elimination of lice: pure, in abundant lotion, let act several hours, rinse with clear water and renew every 2 to 3 days during the period of contagion.

- Hair lotion: to cleanse the scalp, make the hair shiny or give it body, spray or rub in after rinsing the shampoo.

- Tonic lotion: either rubbed pure or diluted by half with water, on the face and the whole body, either in the bath, put 1 glass of pure vinegar.

Internal:
- Against the risks of contagion: in dilution with water, take 1 tablespoon as a preventive measure and 3 tablespoons for a stronger action.

- Against the congestion of the respiratory tracts: in inhalation, 1 to 2 tablespoons diluted in a bowl of boiling water

Other uses :
- Air purification: by direct vaporization.

- Disinfection of various materials: by soaking, rubbing or spraying.

For dogs and cats:
I do not advise you to use the 4 thieves vinegar on your cat or dog, because of the powerful active principles contained in this preparation.
